▌PRODUCT DESCRIPTION >> There were only TWENTY made, and three were sacrificed to R&D, the other seventeen have been sitting in a bin, at the lab, just waiting to shine ;)<< Before the Slim Shady hit the production line, before the 5-star reviews stacked up, before it became one of the most recognized IR blasters in the Flipper Zero ecosystem… there were prototypes. Hand-built. Bench-tested. Iterated on. The boards that got poked, prodded, scoped, and stress-tested until the final production design was locked. The ones that made the Slim Shady what it is today. We kept 17 of them. Now we’re letting them go. This is a Rabbit-Labs Slim Shady IR Blaster Prototype, pulled directly from the development archive. These are real, functional pre-production units from the original R&D cycle. They are not seconds. They are not rejects. They are the ancestors of a product that earned a 4.91-star rating across 43 verified reviews and became a staple in every serious Flipper Zero toolkit. What makes these different? These boards carry the marks of development. Minor cosmetic variations, prototype silkscreen, and component differences from early revisions. These are Unique and every unit tells the story of the Slim Shady’s evolution from concept to finished product. Why buy a prototype? Two reasons. First: you’re holding a piece of Rabbit-Labs engineering history. These are the boards that were on the bench when the design decisions were made. That has value to the kind of person who understands what goes into building hardware from scratch. Second: every prototype sale directly funds the next generation of Rabbit-Labs gear. You’re not just buying a board. You’re investing in whatever comes out of the lab next. 17 units. When they’re gone, they’re gone. There is no second run. There is no waitlist. The archive closes and that’s it. ROUTE SHIPPING COVERAGE IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED AS WE CANNOT REPLACE A LOST PROTOTYPE! Grab yours, or watch someone else flex it at the next con. ▌README.TXT – INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Compatibility: Designed for the Flipper Zero. Compatible with all major firmware builds (Official, Momentum, Unleashed, Xtreme, etc.). Step 1: Align With the Flipper Zero powered off, align the Slim Shady prototype with the GPIO header pins on the top of your Flipper. The IR LEDs should face forward (away from the screen). The board sits flush against the top of the device. Step 2: Seat Press the board gently and evenly onto the GPIO pins until fully seated. The Slim Shady is designed to fit snugly. Do not force it at an angle, as this can bend pins. Step 3: Power On Turn on your Flipper Zero. Navigate to the Infrared application. The Slim Shady requires no additional drivers, configuration, or firmware modifications. It draws power directly from the GPIO header. Step 4: Blast Select your IR signal (saved remote, universal remote, or raw signal) and fire. The Slim Shady’s wide-angle flood pattern covers a broad area. For maximum range, point the Flipper directly at the target device’s IR receiver. Step 5: Remove When done, power off the Flipper Zero before removing the board. Grip the board by the edges (not the components) and pull straight up evenly. Do not rock or twist. ▌DEBUG LOG – TROUBLESHOOTING ISSUE: IR signals not transmitting / target device not responding. FIX: Confirm the board is fully seated on the GPIO header. Even one pin partially disconnected will cause failure. Remove the board, inspect the pins for bends, reseat, and retry. Also verify you’re using the correct IR signal for your target device. ISSUE: Board feels loose or won’t stay seated. FIX: Check the GPIO header pins on your Flipper Zero for any bent, missing, or recessed pins. If you’re using a silicone case, ensure the case isn’t interfering with the board’s seating depth. The Slim Shady is designed to work with or without a case, but thick aftermarket cases may require slight adjustment. ISSUE: Flipper Zero won’t power on with the board attached. FIX: Remove the board immediately. Inspect for any solder bridges, debris, or foreign material on the GPIO contact points of both the board and the Flipper. A short on the GPIO header can prevent boot. Clean contacts with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth, then retry. ISSUE: Reduced range compared to expectations. FIX: IR range depends heavily on ambient lighting conditions, target device sensitivity, angle of approach, and obstacles. Direct line-of-sight yields the best results. Bright sunlight or strong fluorescent lighting can interfere with IR reception. Try again in lower ambient light or at a closer distance to verify functionality. ISSUE: Board gets warm during extended use. FIX: Mild warmth is normal during sustained, high-rate IR transmission. The Slim Shady is engineered for superior thermal dissipation compared to competing blasters. If the board becomes uncomfortably hot to the touch, power off and allow it to cool. Extended high-frequency blasting (1MHz signal rates) will generate more heat than standard use. ISSUE: Cosmetic differences from production Slim Shady. THIS IS NOT A DEFECT. These are prototype units from the development archive. Variations in silkscreen, component placement, solder joints, or board finish are expected and are part of what makes each prototype unique. Cosmetic differences do not affect functionality. ▌SYS.WARN – WARNINGS, HAZARDS & DISCLAIMERS Intended Use / Legal Compliance. The Rabbit-Labs Slim Shady IR Blaster (including prototype units) is intended solely for educational, research, and personal use. This device transmits infrared signals and is designed for use with the Flipper Zero platform. Rabbit-Labs LLC does not condone, encourage, or support the use of this product for any unauthorized, illegal, or malicious purpose. Any misuse of this product is at the user’s own risk. Prototype Disclaimer. This is a pre-production prototype unit sold from the Rabbit-Labs development archive. While fully functional and tested, prototype units may exhibit cosmetic variations, non-standard silkscreen markings, rework evidence, or minor component differences compared to the current production Slim Shady. These characteristics are inherent to prototype hardware and are not considered defects. All Sales Final. Due to the limited-edition, collectible nature of this product, all prototype sales are final. No returns, exchanges, or refunds will be issued. Please purchase with the understanding that you are acquiring a one-of-a-kind pre-production unit. No Warranty. Prototype units are sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Rabbit-Labs LLC makes no guarantees regarding longevity, durability, or long-term performance beyond confirming that each unit is functional at the time of sale. Standard Rabbit-Labs product warranty does not apply to prototype/archive units. ESD Sensitivity. This is an exposed electronic circuit board. Handle with appropriate electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions. Avoid touching components directly. Store in an anti-static bag when not in use. Not a Toy. This product contains small electronic components and exposed circuit board elements. Keep out of reach of small children. Not intended for users under the age of 13. GPIO Compatibility. This board connects directly to the Flipper Zero’s GPIO header and draws power from it. Do not connect to any device other than a Flipper Zero. Incorrect connection to incompatible hardware may damage the board, the host device, or both.
