Bagru printing is a traditional block printing technique that is done using natural colours. Colors are naturally obtained from indigo, limestone, jaggery, alum, acacia gum, black clay, spoiled wheat flour, etc. The process starts from preparing the cloth and ends with finished printed fabrics through their indigenous methods. Motifs having some specialty are transfrred onto light coloured background with wooden blocks following two styles – direct and resist style. Versatile, hand crafted and hand blocked, Dabu is a labour intensive work of art. The prints of Dabu motifs are usually like peacocks, leaves, cornstalks (boota), sunflower, mangoes and various other animals and birds figure are used.
