Dabu is derived from the word ‘dabaana’ meaning to press. Dabu printing is a traditional printing technique from Rajasthan, India. In this process, a paste made of mud, gum and lime is applied on the fabric in a desired pattern using hand-carved wooden blocks. The fabric is then dyed in indigo, which penetrates the parts of the fabric not covered by the mud paste, resulting in a resist-dyed pattern.
