The powder melts, flows, and then hardens to a smooth, durable vitreous coating. The word  “Enamel” comes from the Latin vitreum, meaning “glassy”. Once this enameling process has been completed the remaining visible  925 sterling silver is overlaid with a protective coating of rhodium, which is a rare, silvery-white, hard, corrosion-resistant, and chemically inert transition metal. It is also a member of the platinum group. This ensures there is no dulling, tarnishing or rusting of your SFJ piece.
